Once various companies started to design smart phones and PDAs that had internet capability, the earlier styles of the Palm Pilot soon became outdated. As such, Palm Computing and other companies such as Research in Motion (who makes BlackBerry) and Apple began to manufacture smart phones that had the ability to surf the internet, play music and perform a variety of other tasks. A majority of Palm Pilot data organizers or smart phones are now equipped with many different ways of inputting data.
